Clay has a bachelor of engineering and MBA from McGill University in Montreal. He is a skilled facilitator, marketer and business developer whose 25 years of experience has honed a unique ability to connect plus communicate the impact a technology can have on an environment, a community, a product or a bottom line.
At heart, Clay is an entrepreneur. In 1992, he co-founded Vancouver’s first technology marketing and public relations agency, selling it in 1998. In 2001, Clay co-founded Cientis Technologies to focus on Electronic Health Care, which he sold in 2004. He is also firmly dedicated to the concepts of sustainability. He was a founding director of Offsetters (carbon offsetting), the Ocean Renewable Energy Group (OREG) and the Power Technology Alliance, where he brought together over 100 corporate sector executives and multiple government departments to build a world-class clean technology sector in BC.
Clay recently developed a course on Market assessment and Competitive Analysis for the SBN Venture Ready Program . He has also developed a Green ICT course for UBC Continuing Studies and co-developed UBCs award-winning Internet Marketing program. Clay shares his views on sustainability, technology and marketing across North America through print, radio and television.
In all instances, his number one goal is helping organizations realize the fullest potential of their innovation.
Clay advises a number of not for profits in addition to his role as Board Chair for the Neil Squire Society.
